It's a good week for solo Bach

It's a good week for solo Bach. Pride of place must go to cellist Steven Isserlis (right), who'll be playing three of the Bach suites (Nos 3, 5 and 6) at the National Concert Hall on Thursday. Isserlis, whose approach to Bach is fascinatingly more inward than public, played the other half of the set in a memorable recital at the RDS in 1996. Anyone who heard him then will know not to miss the second instalment. Ireland's leading harpsichordist, Malcolm Proud, continues the Bach Festival at St Ann's, Dawson Street, on Sunday afternoon (3.30 p.m.) with the Second English Suite and the Sixth French Suite. And the brightest star among the younger generation of Irish organists, Colm Carey, offers the complete Art of Fugue at TCD Chapel on Wednesday evening.
