Little Rock - A US federal judge said yesterday that President Clinton may be liable to a contempt of court citation for his testimony in the Ms Paula Jones sexual harassment suit.

Federal Judge Susan Webber Wright said in a public filing that it was time for the court to consider whether Mr Clinton was in contempt for admitting to an affair with Ms Monica Lewinsky after denying sexual relations with her in an earlier deposition in the Jones case.

In her first words on the subject, Mrs Hillary Rodham Clinton said she was considering running for a New York Senate seat and would make a decision "later this year".
