A number of homes in Ronanstown in Dublin were evacuated today after a suspicious device was discovered in the front garden of a house.

The device was found at about 10.20am this morning at a house in Rowlagh Gardens.

Gardaí called in an Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team and the area was sealed off.

The device was made safe at 1.30pm without the need for a controlled explosion.

The remains of the device have been handed over to the Garda.
