Management at Coca-Cola HBC Ireland has urged trade union representatives at the company to re-engage in talks to avert a planned strike over outsourcing, writes Martin Wall.

The trade union Siptu is set to place pickets at the companys main distribution centres today over plans to outsource 130 distribution and warehousing jobs in Dublin, Tuam, Waterford, Tipperary and Cork.

Coca Cola HBC managing director Gokhan Bilgic said the strike would not affect business continuity. Siptu has said the company refused to discuss an alternative to the current outsourcing plan.
