Operation Appall involves the gardaí as well as Manchester police in the UK.

The Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit in Harcourt St in Dublin is conducting inquiries.

In Britain, officers from more than 20 forces in England, Scotland, Wales raided 45 addresses.

The raids follow a three-month investigation by Greater Manchester police's obscene publications unit.
