London - The British government yesterday ordered intervention in three Labour-led education authorities - including the Education Secretary's Sheffield - after Ofsted said they were letting down local children. Consultants are to be sent in to Sheffield, Rotherham and Leeds to advise on steps to improve support for schools. Britain's Education Minister, Ms Estelle Morris, said that in Leeds and possibly Rotherham, the government expected to see services contracted out.
