Irish consumer sentiment in April rose to its highest level in almost two years, data released by the ESRI and IIB Bank today shows.
Their report showed the April consumer sentiment index moved up to 90.8, compared with 86.9 in March. The corresponding figure for April 2003 was 68.4.
An index of current economic conditions rose up over three points to 99.8. A measurement of consumer opinion for the coming year, was also up, rising from 80.7 to 84.7.
April was the night consecutive rise in the consumer sentiment index. The ESRI said the data suggested a significant economic upturn was under way.
