Reduce the fat, increase the price

In Tescos in Westport there are two types: a large pot for €1.99, and a medium pot for €2.29. In bigger Tescos you'll see many brands, including organic ones, for which you might pay up to €5 for a 200g pot. There seems to be a tendency to charge more for the "reduced fat" ones — surely if you reduced the fat, it should be cheaper than the full fat ones? Intriguing stuff, I'm sure you'll agree. Park your flexibility here

I have worked in a large organisation that had a carpark validation system. To ensure workers didn't give free parking to friends, a ticket could only be validated after a sale of a certain value (I think it was €20). From time-to-time a customer would only mention their parking ticket after they had left the counter and we could not do anything. I used to let people out with my own ticket because the shop was fairly small, but I can see how in a large business like Tesco, the manager is not going to bend over backwards to help a single customer, plus why should he jeopardise his job by leaving the floor?
