GAA:Na Fianna's Johnny Cooper has been promoted to the starting line-up of the Dublin team to face Down in the National Football League at Pairc Eisler on Sunday.
The former Dubs U-21 captain came on as a substitute for James McCarthy against Armagh, scoring two points, but will start at left corner back in place of Philly McMahon who received a red card for a second bookable offence in the final minutes of that match.
Cooper’s inclusion is one of three changes made by Dubs’ boss Pat Gilroy. Stephen Cluxton resumes in goal in place of Michael Savage while Kevin McManamon is named at centre half forward. Alan Brogan moves to the corner with Tomas Quinn dropping out of the team.
Meanwhile Gilroy confirmed that Bernard Brogan, who has yet to play for Dublin in the league, underwent minor keyhole surgery this morning. "It is just a tiny bit of bone fragment that needs to be taken out. It's very minor. He won't even be put asleep; in and out in 10 minutes. He could be two weeks out but he could be right as rain in a week. It depends."
