Copybooks for Peace launched by doctor

A PEACE initiative called Copybooks for Peace has been launched by a Dublin doctor

A PEACE initiative called Copybooks for Peace has been launched by a Dublin doctor. Copybooks, or jotters as they are known in the North have been sent to schools, firms surgeries, hospitals, hotels and other public places, for people to write on how they feel about the Troubles.

Dr Brendan O'Reilly started the campaign because he felt everyone has the right to "have a say" in the search for peace. He said the copybooks will allow many contributions. "As well as having an effect on the peace process, this campaign is important for healing and reconciliation. It will help our understanding of people from different divides", he said.

A selection of the comments are to be published in a book with the proceeds going to peace groups.

The campaign is known as Jotters for Peace in Northern Ireland and Peace Net Ireland on the Internet.
