All-Ireland Football qualifiers:Cork and Down are through to the All-Ireland quarter-finals after vastly differing performances against Limerick and Sligo respectively. The Rebels clinched victory in extra-time with a lethargic performance but the Ulstermen were ruthless in their 3-20 to 0-10 demolition of their Connacht opponents.

Conor Counihan were on their way to a four-point win after an unconvincing 70 minutes against Munster rivals Limerick, when last minute penalty from Ger Collins was followed by a point from substitute Conor Fitzgerald.

With the scores tied at 1-09 to 0-12, the game was forced into extra-time, though it took a full eight and a half minutes before a point was registered through Corks Donncha O'Connor, who added another from a free for a two-point lead at the turnaround.

Limerick fought back with points from goalkeeper Brian Scanlon and Ian Ryan, who made it a one-point game with two minutes left.

All Limerick managed, however, was a second yellow card for Stephen Lavin, and Daniel Goulding converted the free for a two-point win.

At Kingspan Breffni Park, Sligo were thoroughly outplayed by Down, who led 1-05 to 0-06 points at the break after a fisted goal from John Clarke and points from Daniel Hughes, Martin Clarke, Mark Poland and Paul McComiskey.

Down got better after the break, Sligo worse. They were restricted to just four points and the Ulster side found the net twice more through Ambrose Rogers and Ronan Murtagh.

The latter was introduced as a substitute in the second half and top scored with a personal haul of 1-06.
