A pedestrian in his 30s has died after he was hit by a waste-disposal truck in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork, yesterday morning.

A pedestrian in his 30s has died after he was hit by a waste-disposal truck in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork, yesterday morning.

Liam Curtin (31) was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the fourth pedestrian of eight road deaths since last Friday. The incident occurred on the N28 Ringaskiddy road at about 7am between Shannon Park roundabout and Shanbally.

The driver of the waste disposal truck was not injured. However he was badly shaken.

Carrigaline priest Fr Charlie Nyhan yesterday comforted Mr Curtin’s parents, Billy and Mary, who live in Owenabue. Mr Curtin, a married man, moved to Cloyne five years ago.
