GAA Fixtures: The All-Ireland SFC semi-final replay between Cork and Kerry will take place next Sunday as part of a triple bill at Croke Park.
Cork performed one the great comebacks in recent years to draw level at 3-07 to 1-13 with All-Ireland champions Kerry in yesterday's showpiece at headquarters.
With both sides set to do it all again next Sunday at 2pm, it will be the third time they have met this season after Cork denied their neighbouring rivals to win the Munster title earlier this year.
Though the fixture was anticipated, it faced opposition in both counties where many thought a Munster venue would be more appropriate and easier for those travelling to and from the game.
However, GAA president Nickey Brennan defended the descision today, saying: "It's an All-Ireland semi-final. Its status decrees that it should be played in Croke Park. We appreciate the distance in travelling but clearly from the point of view of the teams they were willing and anxious to play the game in Croke Park because in the latter stages of the championship inter-county teams want to play there.
"We also have to bear in mind the overall picture of the other games on next Sunday and ensure the maximum publicity for our association. We felt that in bringing patrons back they were getting exceptional value for money on a three-game programme," he told RTE Radio.
The second semi-final between Wexford and Tyrone will immediately follow the replay with a throw-in time of 4pm.
The minor semi-final between Tyrone and Meath will get the action under way at 12.15pm.
Today's announcement by the GAA also confirmed the All-Ireland Minor semi-final replay between Mayo and Kerry will take place this Saturday at Cusack Park in Ennis at 3.30pm.
