Green Party:The Green Party's deputy leader, Cllr Mary White, has condemned the "thuggery" that resulted in a burnt-out car being discovered at the gateway to her rural Co Carlow home yesterday morning.
Cllr White, a candidate in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency, described the incident as a "blatant attempt at intimidation in the run-up to the general election". It is the third occasion in 18 months that her home has been targeted and gardaí at Thomastown have begun an investigation.
Green Party leader Trevor Sargent said he was "absolutely shocked at such a cowardly attack on democracy".
Cllr White has been outspoken in her criticism of anti-social behaviour, illegal dumping on the Blackstairs mountains and the destruction caused on the slopes of Mount Leinster by the use of quad bikes and the abandonment of burnt-out vehicles.
