Members of Mayo County Council have voted to reject the State-backed "Town Renewal Scheme" under which five towns were selected for designated refurbishment and "new-build" projects. Councillors claim the renewal scheme proposals for Ballinrobe, Claremorris, Newport, Foxford and Belmullet are so ludicrous they give the impression that the adjudicating committee did not even visit the towns in question.
