The head of the Department of German in University College Cork has settled her court action against the college.

Prof Mary Howard, of North Mall, Cork, was appointed Professor of German at UCC in July, 1993, and made head of the Department for five years. Last July, she obtained an interlocutory order restraining UCC from removing her as head pending the outcome of a trial, due to begin yesterday.

However, Mr Justice Smyth was told by Mr Bill Shipsey SC, for ProfHoward, that the matter had been settled.
