The holder of a disputed winning Lotto ticket has indicated through his solicitor that he will fight an attempt by his 15 fellow syndicate members to force him to share his winnings with them.
The 15 syndicate members, who are all Dublin-based construction workers, will go to court tomorrow to seek an extension of an injunction obtained on Tuesday preventing the National Lottery paying out the €1.27 million (£1 million) jackpot.
They obtained the injunction after discovering the 16th member of their syndicate, Mr Noel Kelly, had bought the winning ticket in last Saturday's draw while buying tickets with money they had collected, although he claimed he bought it separately for his partner.
Mr Kelly and his partner went to National Lottery headquarters on Monday to claim the prize but were told it could not be paid out because of "legal interventions".
A full hearing of the case is not expected for several weeks.
