The general assembly has demanded that credible Israeli and Palestinian investigations into UN allegations of war crimes in last year’s Gaza war be conducted, reflecting concerns that the inquiries have so far fallen short.

The UN’s 192-nation assembly of member states yesterday approved the non- binding Arab-drafted resolution with 98 votes in favour, seven against and 31 abstentions. Fifty-six nations did not participate in the vote.
