Gardaí are investigating the death of a 35-year-old mother of two in a house in Co Meath yesterday evening.

The body was found at about 5.30pm at the house in the Edgeworth Court estate in Longwood.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body remains at the scene pending a forensic examination by the State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy.

The woman’s husband, who is also in his mid-30s, and who was in the house at the time, is being treated for what are described not life-threatening injuries at Mullingar General Hospital.

It is understood the couple are non-Irish nationals and have two boys. The boys were not injured in the incident.

The scene has been being preserved and a full technical examination is expected to begin this morning.

Gardaí said they were investigating “all the circumstances” surrounding the incident. No one has been arrested in connection with the death.
