A man is being questioned in relation to a suspected hit-and-run in Coolock in north Co Dublin in which a 13-year-old boy lost his life.
Flowers have been left at the site of the collision at the Clare Hall end of the R139 near Belcamp Park around 9.30pm .
The teenager, who has not yet been named, was taken to Temple Street Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He is believed to have lived near the scene of the crash.
The car involved in the collision failed to stop or remain at the scene, according to gardaí, who said it was later recovered a short distance away.
A man aged in his mid 20s was arrested in connection with the investigation and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, at Finglas Garda Station.
The R139, which was closed on Saturday night as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators operated at the scene, has since reopened to traffic.
The road is a wide flat stretch of carriageway with footpaths on either side, bounded by high hedges and Darndale and Belcamp parks on the south side, with undeveloped land to the northern side.
At the crash site, the carriageway is separated from the footpath by a grass verge. Road markings indicating a bus lane are very worn and impossible to see in some parts.
At the western end of the road the R139 meets the M50 / M11 junction.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact them at Coolock Garda Station on 01 6664200, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda station.
