Gardaí and Revenue customs officers seized cocaine worth an estimated €3.1 million at Dublin Port on Saturday.
Authorities found 45kg of illegal drugs after stopping and seaching a vehicle in an intelligence-led operation at the port. A Garda statement said the drugs were found in the refrigeration unit of the vehicle following a search aided by detector dog James.
A man aged 46 has been arrested in relation to drug-trafficking offences. He is being detained under section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Bridewell Garda Station.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau.
