A State solicitor told the judge the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed Mr Green was to be returned for trial during the present term of the Central Criminal Court on the one charge in the book of evidence.

Alibi

Judge Blake warned Mr Green that if he intended to use an alibi in his defence he must notify the prosecution within 14 days. The judge told him he was being sent forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court.

He was further remanded in custody but a date for his next hearing has yet to be allocated. A legal aid application was granted to defence solicitor Patrick McNiece and the judge added that this would also include a barrister and senior counsel representation given the gravity of the case. He also ordered disclosure of video evidence to the defence.

Ms O’Connor (61) was first reported missing on June 2nd last. Later, human remains were discovered scattered over a 30km area across the Wicklow mountains, including a human head and arms in a plastic bag.
