An elderly woman is in a serious condition in hospital after she was assaulted and robbed outside her home in Limerick.
The woman (89) was returning from bingo at around 11pm on Sunday when the attack took place.
She had been dropped off by taxi to her home in the Rosbrien area and was entering the front door when a man grabbed her and dragged her to the rear of the house.
Her handbag, which contained just €20, was taken during he incident.
The woman was brought to University Hospital Limerick where her injuries are described as serious.
A man in his 20s was arrested by gardaí on Monday in connection with another incident involving a pensioner last week at Roxboro Shopping Centre in which some €80 was stolen. He is also being questioned about Sunday night’s incident.
