A car found close to the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Co Donegal is still under examination to see if it was involved in the incident.

The car was found on Sunday night about 1km from the spot at Ardfarn, Bundoran, where Alan McSherry (48) was killed.

The car was abandoned outside PJ and Betty Johnston's farmhouse, but parts of the vehicle involved in the crash were found close to where Mr McSherry was killed, near his home in Boyannagh, Co Leitrim early on Sunday morning.

Gardaí are trying to see if the vehicles match and they say the investigation may finish later today.
