Man arrested after shots fired at a Dublin home

The shooter was seen fleeing the scene on a bicycle

Gardaí arrested a man who fired shots into a house before attempting to flee the scene on a bicycle last night.

The incident occurred at about 10.30pm at an address on Beaver Street in Dublin’s north inner city.

The 28-year-old, who was arrested shortly afterwards, was seen discharging the firearm into the house which had two occupants inside, neither of whom were injured.

A passing garda patrol car then apprehended the suspect as he was cycling down the nearby Sean McDermot Street shortly afterwards.

A firearm was recovered near the scene of the arrest in a follow-up search.

The suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of a second unit.

The scene at Beaver Street is currently closed off for technical examination and the investigation into the shooting, including its motive, is ongoing.

The man is currently being detained at Store Street garda station where he is being questioned under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
