Motorcyclist and driver killed on roads in separate collisions

Motorcyclist died at Mohill, Co Leitrim. Driver died at Charlestown, Co Mayo

Two men died in road traffic collisions on Saturday.

The first, a man in his 30s, was killed when his motorcycle was in collision with a car at 11.20am at Clooncahir, Mohill, Co Leitrim. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to Sligo University Hospital, where a postmortem will take place. The driver of the car was not injured.

The second, a man in his 20s, was killed when the car he was driving crashed at Charlestown, Co Mayo, at 3pm. He was also pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to Mayo University Hospital, where a postmortem will be carried out. The road reopened after Garda forensic collision investigators examined the crash site. The Garda appealed for witnesses to contact Claremorris Garda station on 094-9372080. No other vehicle was involved.
