Toddler dies after fall from apartment window

An 18-month-old girl has died after falling from a third floor window of an apartment block in Dublin.

The toddler fell from the Tolka Valley building in Finglas at around 9.30am. Her parents, who are from eastern Europe, rushed the child to the city's Mater Hospital in a taxi but she could not be saved and was declared dead at 10.30am.

Gardaí are investigating the incident.

Finglas Labour councillor John Redmond said the community was in shock at the girl’s death. “It’s tragic, just tragic that such a thing like that could have happened,” he said.

“My sympathies go to the family involved...I can only imagine what the family are going through.”
