Two men die in separate crashes in Clare and Kerry

Passenger in car and pedestrian killed, three other people injured in two incidents

Two men have died in separate crashes in Co Clare and Co Kerry.

Gardaí ­ in Ennistymon, Co Clare are investigating a fatal crash on the Lisdoonvarna to Lahinch road.

A car collided with a motorcyclist at about 4.45pm at Doonagore, Doolin.

The front seat passenger of the car, a 35-yearold man was seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the morgue in Limerick. The male driver and a female passenger, both of whom are in their mid 30s, were also injured in the collision and taken to hospitals in Galway and Limerick.

Their injuries are described as non life-threatening.

The motorcyclist was seriously injured and is being treated at Limerick Hospital.

Earlier, a man died after he was hit by a car while walking in Co Kerry. The man was walking along the R551 Tralee to Ardfert Road in Ballyroe when he was struck by the car at about 8.35am.

Postmortem

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to University Kerry Hospital in Tralee where a postmortem will be carried out.

The driver of the car, aged 20, was not injured during the collision.

A forensic examination of the scene was carried out by investigators and the local coroner was notified.
