Weapons found during raid on dissidents in Derry

Guns and explosives have been found by police investigating dissident republican activity in Derry city.

Detectives from the PSNI’s serious crime branch discovered the weapons during a raid in the Beechwood area of the city.

Earlier a 39-year-old man was arrested in Derry as part of a separate police inquiry into dissident activity.

He was taken to the PSNI’s serious crime suite at Antrim for questioning.

A PSNI spokeswoman said investigations were continuing.
