John Crofton has resigned as Kildare football manager after two years in charge, citing family and business commitments as the primary reasons.
Kildare struggled to make any sort of impact in this year's championship as they lost by six points to Meath in the first round of the Leinster championship. Despite overcoming Roscommon in the first round of the Qualifiers they then lost at home to Louth, again by six points, in the second round.
Under Crofton the Lillywhite's league campaign made for slightly better reading as they reached the semi-finals of SFC Division 1A before losing 1-13 to 1-11 to eventual winners Donegal.
Crofton, who featured for the county at fullback in the 1991 NFL final, was a selector under Mick O'Dwyer before making a name for himself by managing Round Tower to the Leinster club final in 2003.
The former Sarsfields player took over from Padraig Nolan in 2005.
