Cork City suffered a huge blow in their bid for European football next season after suffering a heavy 3-0 defeat to Bohemians at Turner’s Cross this afternoon.

Bohemians have regained their championship winning form of last season under new manager Stephen Kenny and controlled this game from start to finish.

Cork started well but it was prolific striker Glen Crowe who scored the opening goal on 33 minutes.

Bohemians then dominated the entire second half but had to wait until the 81st minute to extend their lead and finish off their opponents. Kevin Hunt’s shot had too much power for Michael Devine in the Cork goal.

Crowe completed the rout on the whistle, prompting the travelling Bohemians fans to chant "Glen Crowe for Ireland".

Meanwhile, Longford Town’s push to avoid relegation took a step in the right direction today after the beat UCD 2-1 at Belfield.

The first half was a largely forgettable affair and the game only sparked to life in the second half.

Longford took the lead on 53 minutes after UCD defender Clive Delaney brought Fergal Coleman down in the box. Stuart Holt converted from the penalty spot.

Longford’s lead, however, was short lived as Mick O'Donnell brought UCD back on level terms one minute later.

Alan Kirby’s brilliantly struck shot on 68 minutes bagged all three points for Longford.

Derry City will play UCD in the FAI Cup quarter-finals after beating St Kevin’s Boys in today’s third round replay at the Brandywell.

St. Kevin's centre-half Stephen Higgins’ own goal proving the difference between the sides in a tight encounter.
