Athens - Greece said yesterday that Russian-made S-300 anti-aircraft missiles bought by Cyprus have been sent to the Greek island of Crete, triggering fresh protests from Ankara.
The missiles "have been sent to Crete", the deputy Greek government spokesman, Mr Nikos Athanassakis, said. "The transfer has been made."
The Greek defence ministry said on Wednesday that missile parts had already arrived in Crete and that shipments were continuing.
A Turkish government official said Ankara's position on the missile issue "has not changed".

"We do not want the introduction of elements that would increase tension in the already complex ties between Turkey and Greece," he said.
