WORLD class is a term often used to describe Daley Thompson, one of the best all round athletes ever, but unfortunately the same cannot be said about this game.
The decathlon, for those who don't know, involves male athletes taking on 10 different track and field events over a two day period. The objective is not necessarily to beat your opponents but to gather as many points as possible. First, second or third doesn't hugely matter - time and distance does.
In Daley Thompson's World Class Decathlon you can choose practice, single event and season modes. But before you venture out into the stadium you must first customise your chosen athlete. This, in effect, means that, you have a determined number of points which represent your overall energy level. You have to balance these points out so that, rather than being lightning quick in the sprints and lethargic in the other events, you have a reasonable all round ability and stamina in all events.
But far from testing your own energy level or stamina, Daley Thompson's World Class Decathlon will test your patience. Here the only skill required is adeptness with the mouse. The decisive factor is your reaction time to the starter's gun or your timing in a throwing or jumping event. Apart from that, there is little else.
You've been warned.
