Donegal-born singer Daniel O'Donnell has been awarded an honorary MBE in Queen Elizabeth's New Year's Honours list.

Donegal-born singer Daniel O'Donnell has been awarded an honorary MBE in Queen Elizabeth's New Year's Honours list.

O'Donnell who announced his engagement to 41-year-old businesswoman Majella McLennan on Christmas Day has been made an honorary MBE for his services to the music industry.

The Dublin based fashion designer John Rocha is also being honoured. He is to receive a CBE.

Mr Pat Armstrong, who piloted the Northern Ireland Police Authority through the difficult period of Patten policing reforms and RUC name change has been awarded a Knighthood in the New Year Honours list.
