Denmark's biggest financial group, Danske Bank, said this morning it bought Finland's Sampo Bank for 30.1 billion Danish crowns (€4.03 billion).
Sampo is the third largest bank in Finland, with subsidiaries in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania and a recently acquired bank in Russia.
Danske said it planned to issue new shares which are expected to provide proceeds of up to 14 billion crowns (€1.88 billion).
