The Dart line is expected to remain closed until the morning between Dún Laoghaire and Dalkey, due to flooding at Sandycove station.

South Dublin Dart and commuters to the south east faced delays this evening after Irish Rail suspended all services between Dún Laoghaire and Dalkey due to water levels on the tracks.

Trains are running between Dalkey and Greystones. Earlier all Darts between Dun Laoghaire and Bray were suspended but this service was restored shortly before 6pm. Irish Rail will issue an update in the morning.

A bus transfer will operate from Connolly station to Bray until further notice for passengers using the Rosslare intercity and Gorey commuter services. Dublin Bus will honour all rail tickets for Dart users.

Dart services were also disrupted this morning between Bray and Dún Laoghaire due to a fallen tree on the line between Dalkey and Glenageary stations.

High winds overnight uprooted a tree in a garden above the line, damaging overhead power wires.

Although repair crews were able to fix the problem, a tree surgeon was required to attend the incident due to the threat of a further fall.

Irish Rail spokeswoman Jane Cregan said teams were on stand-by in other parts of the country to clear railway tracks in the event of snowfall.
