The company, which employs 1,200 in Cork and Dublin, is trying to cut costs following disappointing third quarter financial figures which were announced in the US today.
A spokesperson said the redundancy figures have to be finalised but the numbers are not expected to exceed one hundred.
Earlier this year, the company sought 160 redundancies from its Cork workforce in Ovens.
The company today reported a quarterly loss, blaming a fall in demand for new technology. It recorded a loss excluding some items of $51 million, or 2 cents per share compared with a loss of $270 million, or 12 cents per share a year earlier.
However, the year-ago figure excludes an $825 million restructuring charge.
The news of redundancies in Cork comes just days after the closure of Irish Fertilizer Industries plant in Cobh with the loss of over 200 jobs.
