A central applications facility has been created for public service workers to apply for relocation under the decentralisation programme.

The Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevy launched the Central Applications Facility (CAF) which will be operated by the Civil Service Commission.

The system was one of the key recommendations of the Decentralisation Implementation Group's recent report. The minister described it as "a crucial piece in the decentralisation jigsaw".

Applicants wil be able to apply online at http://www.publicjobscaf.ie.

Phone applications can also be made through the Civil Service Commission's call centre at 1890 252031.

Mr McCreevy also said locations for workers in information technology and health would be announced by the end of the month.
