On Wednesday, the Peppercanister Gallery's new show opened

On Wednesday, the Peppercanister Gallery's new show opened. Artist Mark de Freyne must have been a very happy man by the end of the night, since 26 of his 32 paintings sold. Sticking on the red dots was gallery director, Antoinette Murphy. The exhibition was opened by businessman Ron Bolger, who started off by saying: "Mark is a rat like myself - we were both born in the same year of the Chinese calendar."

Other guests included the Japanese ambassador, Kazuko Yokoo; artists Liam Belton, Patrick Scott and Pauline Flynn; art critic Dorothy Walker, who was there with Baroness Ulli de Breffni; Sonja Lennon, fashion editor of d'Side magazine; and Joan de Freyne, the proud mammy, and the artist's sisters, Joanne and Jacqueline.
