GAA:Derry's James Conway has had an eight week suspension overturned after an alleged punch-up that left inter county teammate James Kielt with a broken jaw. It means he is now available for Derry's second round All-Ireland qualifier.
Kielt was left with a broken jaw after an off-the-ball incident when the pair clashed during a club game between Kilrea and Ballinderry on June 7th.
After the referee missed the incident the Derry club champions were later instructed to provide the name of the player involved.
However an appeals hearing last Tuesday was forced to overturn the suspension due to lack of evidence in the referee’s report or information coming from the Ballinderry club.
Derry manager Damian Cassidy had dropped Conway from the county panel but is now available for selection for the July 11th fixture.
The Derry county board also banned two Ballinderry officials for six months for failing to co-operate and supply the player’s name involved in the incident but those bans have since been reduced to three months.
