Racing: Frankie Dettori won his second successive William Hill Ayr Gold Cup and Dandy Nicholls his sixth as Redford streaked home at 14-1.
Dettori was travelling ominously well throughout on the five-year-old and after getting a nice split he came from last to first on the stands side.
Stablemate Striking Spirit took the smaller group along from the high numbers as following the earlier Silver Cup the majority of the field went to the far side.
Hitchens and the consistent Genki led home that side, but when Redford started his run it was obvious from a long way out that he would catch the fellow Nicholls-trained Victoire De Lyphar, going on to win by two and a quarter lengths.
Dettori missed his first ride of the day due a mix up at Stanstead Airport, but he was delighted to have made it in time to give Nicholls a super six in the race, and a one-two to boot.
"Thank goodness I made it!" screamed Dettori.
"Ryanair changed their security and now a driving licence is not good enough to board a plane, you need a passport and I had to go back home to get it.
"I was only ever a couple of lengths down so I wasn't panicking.
"This fellow is trained by the Sprint King Dandy Nicholls and when he rang me up for the ride I was delighted."
Nicholls said: "Frankie told me when he rode him at Newmarket that he'd win it.
"He was always going well.
"The runner-up is just a little baby and he's got his whole life in front of him but the winner will do well too, his next engagement will be at Ascot next weekend (totesport Challenge Cup).
"He would have been an unlucky loser, he was always sat there with a double handful and got a good lead off Victoire."
