Athens - Greek and British officials yesterday marked the first anniversary of a British military attache's murder in Athens, but the urban guerrillas who gunned him down remain at large a year after his death.
The widow of Brig Stephen Saunders, Heather, attended a wreath-laying ceremony at the spot where the November 17 group shot her husband as he drove to work.
"I can't believe that God would have allowed Stephen to be murdered in such a dreadful way if something positive was not meant to come out of his death," she told a crowd attending a memorial service at the Athens Metropolis cathedral.
