A DJ who collapsed suddenly in the AE department of a hospital died of a massive heart attack following recreational amphetamine use, an inquest in Cork was told
John Brosnan (35), of The Courtyard, Douglas Street, Cork city, became unwell at home in the early hours of September 30th, 2011, having taken speed and half a tablet of Kamagra, which is similar to Viagra in its effects, a number of hours earlier.
Mr Brosnan, a Cork DJ known as DJ Broz, complained to his partner, Michael Nason, of chest pain, numbness in his arms and shortness of breath about 4am and the couple decided to walk to the Victoria South Infirmary Hospital. The coroner Dr Myra Cullinane recorded the cause of death as an acute heart attack due to hardening of the arteries and clot following recent amphetamine use, and the jury returned a verdict of death by misadventure.
