Boris Becker made a statement today claiming that a DNA test will determine whether or not he fathered a child out of wedlock.
The former tennis champion was responding to accusations from a woman who is claiming that Becker is the father of her baby daughter.
"There has been the wildest speculation about criminal forces, Russian mafia and other sensationalism," the newly divorced former top tennis player said in a statement issued by his Munich public relations advisers, Luebmedia.
"All that is not true. There is a baby called Anna. And a DNA test will prove who is the girl's mother and who is the father."
Officials at Luebmedia were unable to say whether this meant the former Wimbledon champion would submit to a paternity test.
Germany's mass-selling Bild newspaper said yesterday that a London-based, Russian-born model claimed Becker was the father of her 10-month old baby Anna.
Becker, whose seven-year marriage to wife Barbara was terminated in a Munich divorce court three days ago, said he travelled to London yesterday "to discuss the situation" with his lawyers. He has two children with Barbara. -Reuters.
