DUP MP, Mr Nigel Dodds, has said the pro-Agreement parties are "flogging a dead horse" by trying to revive the Belfast Agreement, writes Suzanne Breen.

The suspension of the North's Assembly and Executive and the collapse of unionist support in the Agreement, had condemned it to "the political dustbin".

The next Assembly elections would prove unionists did not support the peace deal, he said.

"David Trimble will no doubt try wooing the people with yet another charm offensive.

"However, David will forget the charm and be just plain offensive. We don't want the full implementation of Trimble's failed agreement.

"A new agreement is required - a new agreement the DUP, and thus the majority of unionists, can endorse."

Mr Dodds called for immediate Assembly elections and said the current political negotiations were worthless. "Parties must renew their mandate before they can represent anyone in a negotiation process," he added.
