After guiding the Kildare senior hurlers to their first-ever Christy Ring final earlier this month, manager Ben Dorney announced his resignation to the county board last night.
The Corkman was in charge of the Lilywhites for the past two years but has cited personal reasons for his decision to stand down.
Kildare Hurling Board chairman Jody Murphy thanked the school teacher for his "immense contribution" and commitment.
"Ben created a real buzz around hurling in the county and had significantly raised the profile of the game which would serve as a positive influence on young hurlers into the future," said Murphy.
