Driving conditions in many parts of the country are hazardous this morning following a heavy overnight frost and motorists have been advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
A number of minor accidents in icy conditions have occurred along the M50 in Dublin and an area around Cork was said to be particularly dangerous earlier this morning.
A spokesperson for AA Roadwatch warned motorists to be on the look out for black ice and cautioned against unnecessary trips.
Temperatures will rise this morning and although it will remain cold, frost and lying snow is expected to clear across most of the country.
