A former Limerick all-star hurler has been disqualified from driving for 12 months for failing to report a road incident in October 2010 in which he knocked a man down.

Mark Foley (36), Abbeyview, Adare, denied a charge of failing to provide gardaí with information about the incident. Newcastle West District Court was told yesterday that Mr Foley drove the injured party – who suffered a broken leg and arm – to hospital following the incident.

Judge Mary O’Halloran said he had failed to report the matter to the Garda “at the earliest opportunity”.
