Gardai in west Dublin are looking for two members of a local drugs gang over the fatal stabbing of a man on Christmas night

Gardai in west Dublin are looking for two members of a local drugs gang over the fatal stabbing of a man on Christmas night. Mr Jason Ryan (29), of Harelawn Park, Neillstown, Clondalkin, was killed by a single stab wound to the heart at 9.15 p.m. He had been standing at a corner on Harelawn Grove talking to friends when a silver-coloured Honda Civic pulled up and one of the occupants called him over.

Mr Ryan's friends told gardai there was an angry exchange before Mr Ryan walked a short distance from the car and stumbled. He died at the scene. It is understood Mr Ryan was a local drug dealer and had been involved in a dispute with other drug dealers from west Dublin. The exact cause of the dispute was not clear last night.

Mr Ryan was known to gardai and had convictions for drug possession and other minor offences. Gardai are treating the death as murder and an investigation has been started at Ballyfermot Garda station. It is understood gardai have descriptions of the men in the car. Garda sources said they were very hopeful of making early arrests.
