Earlier in the day Anthony Daly's Dublin hurlers were narrowly denied at the death by and injury time point as Antrim won their All-Ireland SHC Qualifier 1-17 to 0-19.

Karl Stewart was the chief tormentor as his injury time point secured a famous win for Antrim, who ran out of steam towards the end.

Daly’s side were seemingly in control and six points ahead entering the final quarter but the Saffrons played to the final whistle and got their just reward.

Both sides were level at the break, 0-10 to 1-7 with the Ulster champions getting the better of their opponents in the latter stages.

Down were narrow 1-12 to 1-10 winners against Offaly in Tullamore this afternoon.

Martin Clarke played a pivotal role but the Mourne men didn’t have it all their own way.

Ken Casey scored in the early stages as Offaly went on to take a 1-06 to 0-06 lead at half-time

However it was Down who started the better in the second period and soon enough their goal came from Aidan Carr.

Towards the closing stages the game was level at 1-08 apiece but Down had enough in the tank to advance to round four.

In the first of the day’s All-Ireland SFC third round qualifiers, Kildare were comfortable 2-17 to 1-09 winners over Derry at Celtic Park.

Kildare’s comprehensive win came with particularly strong performances from the likes of Dermot Earley, Johnny Doyle and Eamon Callaghan, who found the net for the Lilywhites.

Derry’s goal at the start of the game when Raymond Wilkinson fired home from close range after the Kildare defence failed to clear their lines. It took Kildare all of 12 minutes before registering their first score.

When they did find their range Kildare stayed on top and even denied their opponents a single score for a 20 minute period.

Kildare eventually went into the break with a 0-8 to 1-4 lead.

Derry offered little in the second period and Callaghan’s goal on the hour mark put the writing on the wall.

As the clock ticked down the win became comprehensive when Alan Smith found the Derry net two minutes from time.

This eveing Waterford were crowned Munster SHC champions after they defeated Cork 1-16 to 1-13 in extrra time in their replay at Semple Stadium.
